Wiz Khalifa - Taylor Allderdice (Mixtape+Review)

Download: Taylor Allderdice

Let me be clear, Taylor Allderdice is not Kush & Orange Juice. While it is defintely not on K&OJ's level it is however an improvement over his major label debut Rolling Papers. If you were like me and felt a little sour (no pun) when you heard Wiz's commericalized raps, and wished he go back to the early days then you'll enjoy this mixtape.

One thing this does have in common with K&OJ is the production. You can even argue that Taylor Allderdice is better in that aspect. This to me is the main highlight of the tape, from smoked out beats, to the bangers, Chrono Trigger samples and even some jazz elements it all is here and works. Big Jerm, SpaceGhostPurrp, and Cardo bring out a side of Wiz we haven't heard in years. I can say at least Wiz's beat selection has stayed consistent.

While on some tracks Wiz's lyrics leave a bit to be desired, he does well enough. The usual subject matter is to be expected weed, girls, money, Taylor Gang, weed etc. Although Wiz may never reach that level he was on when K&OJ was released, if he keeps this up I'd be happy.

The bad is that once again it isn't K&OJ, yet Taylor Allerdice sounds as if Wiz was trying to capture that sound again but fell a bit short. Amber Rose's inclusion on Never Been Pt.II was not needed. Also after every track Wiz and Rob Markman talk in a interview format and it just kills the mood after the track is done. That being said Taylor Allderdice was a tape for the fans that have been supporting Wiz since day one and it accomplishes just that.

Lyrics: 7/10
Production: 9.5/10
Overall: 8.5/10
Standout Tracks: Never Been Pt.II, T.A.P., Grinder

Apparently there is a beat jacking issue peep Back2Pluto for more info.
